Colorado Marriage Laws

One of the major reasons couples elope in Colorado is because it is easy to elope. You do not need any witnesses and you can get your marriage license the same day. To get your license you can go to the local county’s office and you need to bring proof of identification. Read more on the marriage certificate process here.

Another reason couples love eloping in Colorado is you get to have your pets as your witnesses. Who wouldn’t want that? If you’re an animal lover like me this is a huge perk of eloping in Colorado.

The Best Time To Elope In Telluride

The best time to elope in Telluride is the summer, fall and winter seasons. Telluride is a great spot to elope year round so it also depends on which season you really prefer.

Summer in Telluride: Summer is busy in Telluride but the landscape and weather are perfect for planning an elopement.

Fall in Telluride: Fall is beyond stunning in Telluride. You also get the best weather and lesser crowds on trails.

Winter in Telluride: Winter is always magical. Telluride gives you the snow capped mountains and alpine trees dusted with snow which makes the setting perfect for pictures.

Telluride is also more quiet in the winter so if you want a truly intimate and private elopement, winter would be the best time to elope.

Each season has its’ perks so it really comes down to what seasons you love and the scenery you want and what type of trails you want to explore.

The Best Telluride Elopement Locations

Colorado has plenty of stunning locations to elope. Telluride is one of the best spots to elope in Colorado and the San Juan Mountains. From rivers, alpine lakes, groovy aspen trees to the mountains – there’s something for every couple. So, when choosing your location consider what type of scenery you want, your guest count, and the season you want to elope. I recommend eloping in the summer or fall. The summer gives you the lush green landscape and the fall you get the stunning fall foliage and warm weather.

With that said, here are some of the best Telluride elopement locations:

• San Sophia Overlook: You take the gondola to the top of the trail and there are plenty of trails to explore. This location is accessible which is why I love it! It’s perfect if you want to have family and friends there for your ceremony.
• Altas Lakes: this location is one of the best because of how easy and accessible it is. If you want a location with little hiking but gorgeous mountain views and alpine lakes – this spot is perfect! There is also the Altas Lakes Observatory(add link) you can rent the property for your elopement and easily access the lake since it’s right on the property. The observatory is also perfect if you’re celebrating with a small group.
• Trout Lake: This is another gorgeous alpine lake spot. It’s a stunning location year round but I especially love it in the fall.
• Last Dollar Road: This spot is perfect if you want photos of Aspens and if you love meadows. The location is mainly meadows with mountain backdrops.
• Bridal Veil Falls: This spot is very popular and worth the hype. If you love waterfalls, this is the spot to elope especially in the summer.

Telluride Wedding Venues

Although Telluride does have amazing outdoor locations, there are also amazing wedding venues. This is a perfect option if you want to have a small wedding. It’s also a perfect option for a two day elopement because you get to have a day for just the two of you and the next day could be with your family and friends.
