If you’re dreaming of saying “I do” somewhere truly extraordinary — surrounded by ancient rainforests, glacier-carved lakes, and rugged Pacific coastline — Olympic National Park is the best spot to elope. Whether you want alpine meadows with panoramic mountain views, a misty old-growth forest straight out of a fairy tale, or dramatic sea stacks rising from a wild ocean beach, Olympic is the perfect spot! It feels almost unfair that one place gets to be this beautiful.
Before we get into the good stuff — you will need a Special Use Permit from the National Park Service to hold a ceremony in the park. Apply a few months ahead of time, keep your guest count intimate (think small — it’s an elopement, after all), and you’re good to go. It’s a small bit of admin for a whole lot of magic.

If you want a location that feels like a well-kept secret, Lake Cushman is it. Tucked away in the southeastern corner of the park, it’s a gorgeous turquoise lake ringed by forested mountains, and it doesn’t get nearly the attention it deserves. Which makes it perfect for an elopement.
Show up at sunrise and you’ll get mist rising off the water, golden light filtering through the trees, and the kind of stillness that makes everything feel sacred. It’s accessible year-round, and the lack of crowds means you’ll feel like you have the whole place to yourselves.
If you want drama, Hurricane Ridge delivers. You drive up through the forest and then suddenly — mountains, everywhere, in every direction. It’s the kind of view that makes you catch your breath a little.
In summer, the meadows are covered in wildflowers. In winter, it’s all snow and moody skies. Both are stunning in completely different ways. Sunrise ceremonies up here are something else entirely — watching the light hit the peaks while you’re saying your vows is the kind of moment you’ll talk about for the rest of your lives.
Just check the road conditions before you go, especially in winter. The road can close with little notice, so a backup plan is always smart.
Lake Crescent is my absolute favorite spot in Olympic National Park, and it’s not even close. The vivid blue water that almost doesn’t look real. The mountains come right down to the shore. The whole place has this quiet, timeless quality that’s hard to put into words. It’s so picturesque and especially when it gets foggy, it looks even more epic and dreamy!
For ceremonies, the Marymere Falls Trail is stunning — a short hike to a gorgeous waterfall that makes for unreal photos. The beach area near the Storm King Ranger Station is another favorite, with the lake and mountains framing everything perfectly. And if you want to make a full weekend of it, the Lake Crescent Lodge sits right on the water and is one of the most romantic spots to stay in the entire Pacific Northwest.
Lake Crescent is accessible year-round, and it’s beautiful in every single season. If I could only tell you to go to one place in this park, it would be here, without hesitation.

The Hoh Rainforest is unlike anywhere else on Earth. The trees are ancient and enormous, draped head-to-toe in thick green moss. Ferns grow in every direction. The light filters through the canopy in the softest, dreamiest way. Walking into the Hoh feels like walking into another world.
The Hall of Mosses is the most iconic spot for ceremonies, and the photos taken there look almost painterly — like something out of a storybook. It’s quiet and green and completely magical.
It can get rainy especially during the winter season. But a misty, rainy elopement in the rainforest can turn out to be amazing. I definitely would say to embrace it because nature will do its thing in wild places like Olympic National Park.
Ruby Beach is for the couples who want something a little unexpected. This wild stretch of Pacific coastline is dotted with massive sea stacks rising out of the water, scattered driftwood, and glittering dark sand. The ocean here is loud and powerful and completely awe-inspiring.
A ceremony at Ruby Beach means windswept hair and dramatic skies and the feeling of standing at the very edge of the world. It’s incredibly romantic in the most raw, elemental way. Sunset is the move here — the light on the sea stacks is absolutely unreal — but honestly, fog does something gorgeous to this beach too. Moody and cinematic in the best way.
It’s just a short walk from the parking area down to the shore, so it’s pretty easy to access. Just be mindful of tides and weather, and you’ll be set.
Hire a photographer who knows the park. These locations are stunning, but knowing where to stand and when the light is best makes a huge difference. Find someone who’s shot here before.
Dress for the elements. Olympic’s weather does what it wants. Layers, waterproof layers, and shoes you can actually walk in — especially for the rainforest and the coast.
Think about your season. Hurricane Ridge is most accessible in summer and fall. The Hoh and Ruby Beach are great year-round. Lake Crescent and Lake Cushman are beautiful in every season but especially dreamy in spring and fall. There’s no wrong time to come, just different flavors of beautiful.
Embrace the intimacy. The permit process encourages small gatherings, which honestly makes everything better. Less logistics, more presence. Just you, your favorite person, and one of the most beautiful places on the planet.
Olympic National Park isn’t just a great place to elope — it’s one of the best places to elope in Washington! Whatever you’re drawn to, whether it’s the quiet magic of Lake Crescent, the wildness of Ruby Beach, the enchanted forests of the Hoh, the alpine drama of Hurricane Ridge, or the hidden gem that is Lake Cushman, this park is going to make your day feel extraordinary.
