Best Colorado Elopement Spots | San Juan Mountains

The San Juan Mountains are one of the best Colorado elopement spots. You have rigged mountains, blue alpine lakes, the alpine trees, and waterfalls. This spot is perfect for couples who want a stunning location with the least amount of hiking. The San Juans are surrounded by small mountain towns like Ouray, Telluride, and Silverton.

The San Juans are perfect for having a private and intimate elopement ceremony because it is not an overly touristy spot. It is also a great spot to take jeep tours or rent your own and explore the backcountry of the San Juans. The best time to elope in the San Juan Mountains is in the summer and fall seasons. In the summer, you get the wildflowers and greenery. In the fall you get to experience the amazing fall foliage in the mountains of Colorado. Summer is the best time to plan a Ouray Elopement. Places like Yankee Boy Basin are extra stunning and filled with wildflowers. The only downside is that it doesn’t last long. The wildflowers are in full bloom mid-July and are gone early in August.

For Telluride, fall is one of the best times to plan a Telluride Elopement. The best time to experience the fall foliage is usually late in September but it just depends on the year sometimes it can be sooner.

Crested Butte

Crested Butte is also one of the best places to elope in Colorado. There are beautiful mountain views and wildflowers in the summer. It has similar landscapes to the San Juan Mountains but easier to travel to. The best time to elope in Crested Butte is in the summer from late June to mid-July. That’s when you can experience the wildflowers flourishing. In the fall, you get the best weather and all the stunning fall colors. But, most importantly, you get more privacy since there won’t be many visitors at the location in the fall. The wildflowers are usually gone by then and so will the crowds.

Breckenridge

Breckenridge is one of my favorite locations to elope. It is easily accessible, it is closer to the Denver airport and there are so many amazing locations to choose from. Some of the best locations to elope in Breckenridge are Boreas Pass, Officers Gulch, Sapphire Point, and Hoosier Pass. There are so many local spots to elope that have lakes and wildflowers. Breckenridge as a whole is a hidden gem. You can elope in Breckenridge, year-round. In the winter, skiing is a very popular activity. In the summer and fall, it is perfect for exploring trails and alpine lakes.
