In this guide, I go over my top locations to elope. These include some of my favorite national parks and locations I have been to. Here are my top 4 locations to elope in the US.
California is one of my top locations to elope because there are so many beautiful spots to elope like Yosemite, Red Woods NP, Big Sur, Joshua Tree, Lake Tahoe, and more. You are required to have an officiant and one witness. The national parks like Yosemite and Redwoods require a special use permit. California has a variety of landscapes. You can choose from the mountains, beaches, lakes, and deserts.
You can also do so much for your elopement like hiking, canoeing, stargazing, and more. See my guide on things to do for your elopement to get extra ideas. Also, check out my guide on locations to elope in Yosemite.
Check out Glacier Point elopement.
Colorado has the most diverse landscape. You can get mountain elopement photos, desert, Sanddunes, and alpine lake elopement photos. Some of my favorite locations are the San Juan Mountains, Telluride, Ouray, Silverton, and Breckenridge. There are also places like Crested Butte that are known for wildflowers in the summer. Wildflower season (late June to the end of July) is the best time to elope in Colorado. The fall season is also a great time to elope in Colorado because of the amazing fall foliage at that time.
If you want the destination elopement vibe without international traveling, Alaska is the perfect elopement location for you. Alaska is beyond stunning and has amazing locations like Hatcher Pass, Lake, and the glaciers!! It is just the most magical location. You can do a helicopter tour to add to the adventure because just seeing and eloping at one of these beautiful locations is already an adventure.
The East Coast locations are a little underrated when it comes to elopements. But, Maine is one of the best locations to elope on the east coast. There are locations like Acadia National Park, Baxter State Park, and Cape Elizabeth. I spend a lot of time in Maine every year and Acadia is one of my favorite national parks. The best time to elope in Acadia is in the fall. The summer is also beautiful but can be crowded. Maine like Colorado, is a self-solemnizing state. Also, most national parks require permits to get married even if it’s just the two of you. You don’t need permits to elope in Acadia IF you have up to 10 guests, only. It’s a great place to elope and Bar Harbor is a really cool town to check out and explore.
