This sunrise Joshua Tree elopement was one of my favorites to photograph. T & C both love the desert and chose one of the more unique spots in Southern California. On their elopement day, they got ready before sunrise in their Airbnb and had cups of coffee. Then they got in their Jeep and drove to the trailhead at 4am, I met them there. It was rainy when we got there but they were happy to elope despite the weather. Sometimes, you have to go with the flow when eloping.
They started their elopement day by exploring the Joshua trees in their Jeep. Then they stopped to get star photo portraits. There was a spot with a big joshua tree and they got photos with it in the background. They shared a first dance in this spot and it was so romantic. Then, they got back in the Jeep to find a spot to start a fire and write their vows. They exchanged jokes while writing their vows and stayed warm by the fire. They had plenty of time to write their vows at their own pace until they were ready to say “I do”. Afterward, they said their vows in front of their Jeep. It was the perfect way to celebrate their love. They had a very private ceremony, as I photographed them from afar, hiding behind some Joshua trees. They got back in their Jeep to explore the rest of the desert before ending their day.
What I loved about photographing T & C’s Joshua Tree elopement is that they got to be themselves, there was no stress just fun. Their day was completely about them and their love story.
Joshua Tree National Park is one of the best locations to elope in California.
